Rose quartz has a gentler, more solid appearance than the transparent varieties of quartz. Its colour can range from the palest blush to richer pink, often with cloudy layers, lighter areas and natural variations running through the stone.
Each of our rose quartz skulls is carved individually from a single natural piece. Because the stone is usually translucent to opaque, the eye is drawn first to the shape of the carving: the curve of the cranium, the balance of the face, the jawline and the expression created by the carver.

Natural rose quartz varies considerably. Its colour depends on the individual deposit, the structure of the stone and the thickness of the finished carving. Some pieces are very pale and delicate, while others show a stronger pink or areas of concentrated colour. Neither is automatically better; they simply create a different appearance.
Rose quartz is usually translucent to opaque rather than fully transparent. Light may pass softly through thinner edges or clearer sections, but most pieces have a cloudy, glowing appearance. That softness is one of the stone’s defining visual qualities.

Prolonged strong sunlight may gradually affect the colour, so it is best displayed away from a window that receives intense direct sun for many hours.
